2 good ones I can recommend (I've used both) the Samsung NC10 and the Advent 4211. Battery life on the Samsung is better, and larger HD too. Advent is cheaper though.

I bought my wife this netbook (ASUS Eee PC 904HA 8.9-Inch Netbook) and now she can’t live without it!
I highly recommend it. But it’s list price is $320 (225 pounds?)

I can't recommend one but stay clear of Lenovo I have had nothing but trouble as have loads of people I have spoken to. Their support is useless. That will narrow your search a bit, good luck
